Obituary

Antonio Lee Smith departed this life on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton, Md. He was born on April 12, 2000, to the late Velda Smith and Anthony Conyer, Sr.  Antonio was loved and raised primarily by his mother and his godparents the late Allison and Carroll "Mickey" Hynson. Antonio was educated in the Talbot County Public Schools. He was a proud member of the St. Michaels High School Class of 2018. Upon graduation he attended Chesapeake College, taking courses in HVAC and Welding. He was employed by several companies, including The Crab Claw Restaurant, Shaw's Heating Air & Plumbing and Applebee's. At a young age, Antonio was baptized and attended Union United Methodist Church in St. Michaels, Md.  Antonio attended Union with Allison and Mickey Hynson and was also a junior usher. Antonio's favorite pastimes were fishing, playing cards, and of course spending time at family events. He was loved and showed love to many, he would never leave without saying "I love you".  He especially loved his family, and they all knew it. In addition to his mother, Velda, Antonio was preceded in death by his biological father Anthony Conyer, Sr., grandmother, Clara Ann Cooper, grandfather, Kennard Smith, Sr. and godmother Allison Hynson. Antonio leaves to cherish his memory: 3 brothers: Donald (Dominique) Gaines, Jr. of Hillsboro, Md., Anthony Conyer, Jr. of Dover, Del., and Tajmeire Lewis of Easton Md.; the loves of his life, nephew D'Monte Gaines and niece DeMya Thomas; grandfather, Richard Cooper of St. Michaels, Md.; 3 uncles: Kenneth Smith, Jr. of Easton, Md., Rodney (Tammeisha) Smith of Columbia, N.J., Phillip Rookard of Preston, Md.; 5 aunts: Kay Cooper of St. Michaels, Md., Angelique Holley of St. Michaels, Md., Adrian Cole of Plainfield, N.J., Lisa Carpenter of Easton Md., and Martrina Hoxter Ridgely, Md.; godfather Carroll "Mickey" Hynson; special cousin, who was his first best friend Armonie Cooper; girlfriend, Savannah Moore; lifelong friends: Jahza' Barney, Matthew Sherwood, Skyler Bryan, and Jack Stevens as well as a host of great aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
