He was also filled with honor to have served his country in the United States Marine Corp.
Charles chose as his bride Doris Marie Wooten, and they were united in marriage on August 28, 1964. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love.
A devoted member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Hebron, Charles served faithfully on the Usher Board, sang with passion in the Men's Choir, and shared his wisdom as a trusted Trustee. Whenever the Lord called him to serve, Charles answered without hesitation. His commitment to God and his church family was evident in everything he did.

(Evelyn) Handy; a niece, Jay Robinson; and 5 nephews: Gary Handy, Tyrone Handy, Preston and Leo Cherry, Craig Handy, and Kavon Pinder; a special great niece, Chardonnay Robinson, and a special great nephew, Carlton Robinson.
He also leaves behind a cherished legacy through his 4 grandchildren: Nathaniel (Ronika) Herring Jr., Dimitri (Destiny) Herring, Brian Kevin Handy Jr., and Javaun Barnett; his great-grandchildren: Devin Herring, Leniah Herring, Zanay Herring, Zion Herring, Drake Herring, Milo Herring, Carmelo Barnett, and Alessandra y Barnett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his sisters: Martha Ann Handy, Phyllis M. Handy-Dashiell, Shirley E. Handy-Cherry, and Rose M. Handy-Dashiell.

His legacy of compassion, humility, and steadfast devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, church family, and all who were blessed to know him.
Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will forever be treasured, and his faith-filled example will continue to guide those he leaves behind.
