Devel Leander Walley, 59 of St Michaels, departed this life December 12, 2023, at Tidal Health in Salisbury. He was born August 18, 1964, to the late John and Lorraine Horsey Walley.
Devel was raised in Talbot County, spending most of his life in McDaniel, MD. He graduated from St Michaels High School in 1983. While in high school, he played on the JV Basketball team. After school, he began playing the drums and trombone, or as others would put it, he played with the drums and trombone. Devel also loved shooting pool with Robert "Jack" Jackson. He also loved basketball. But above all, he was an avid lover of the Pittsburg Steeler. Devel's favorite soloist was Anita Baker. As a child he attended John Wesley United Methodist Church in McDaniel, MD.
Devel was the type of person when you met him, he may have seemed a bit grumpy and grouchy. After meeting him, you found out he was a marshmallow. Devel loved mingling with his family and close friends. He loved playing jokes with close acquaintances. Lester Palmer was his known "road dog."
In addition to his parents, John, and Lorraine Horsey Walley, he was preceded in death by his 3 brothers: Wayne G Warner, Glen D. Brown, and Vernon Greene; and many aunts and uncles.
Devel leaves to cherish fond memories with 2 sisters: Brigitte L. Walley (Curtis Holley) and Karen Greene; one brother, Michael Greene; one uncle, Walter (Mouse) Walley Sr.; 2 nieces, the loves of his life: Petrice (Tre) J. Holley and Shantia (Tia) M. Holley, 2 nephews: Douglas and Vernon Cephas; special claimed nieces and nephews which Devel adored: Lamont and Renee Thomas, Appolonia Sullivan, Dede, Kia and Ziggy Johnson and their mother Monishia Jenkins- Johnson. Devel has a special brother and best friend, Craig Custis; lifelong friends: Dwayne Camper, Everett Harris, Joe Thomas, Tonya Cannon and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
