On December 26, 2023, while surrounded by family and friends, our Lord and Savior decided he needed Donna more than we did.

Donna Carson-Ross was born November 26, 1953, to the late William and Harriet Carson.

Donna, affectionately called DC by those that knew her, was born and educated in Connecticut. There she raised her 4 children until they relocated to Virginia in 1989.

Later in life she met Larry Ross. They married on September 5, 2010. She was a devoted wife until her passing.

In addition to her parents, Donnie was preceded in death by her brother, William (Billy) Carson.

Donnie leaves to mourn her passing, husband Larry Ross; her four children: Byron and Belinda Carson, Rhea Carson of Hampton Va, Alvena Carson-Gorham of Queen Creek AZ, and Contessa Williams of Powder Springs GA; her sisters: Denise Carson and Paulette Jones of Bridgeport Connecticut, Constance and Neil Morton of Hamden Connecticut;  a brother, Douglas Ballard of West Haven Connecticut; 12 grandchildren: Robert, Chanee, Kayla, Steve, Olivia, Dominick, Matrell, Amir, Byron Jr, Jada, Octavia  and Apollo; 4 great grandchildren: Gabby, Dame, B3 and Kyree, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; way too many to count.

Donnie was all about family. Nothing brought her more joy than being around her family, immediate and distant. Her home was opened to all who knew her. She would often interject herself in the planning and preparation of events. She just had to contribute and be a part of it. She was not content with just showing up and enjoying. It was not a burden to her; it was her pleasure.

Things will never be the same. She will be truly missed.

When tomorrow starts without me,

That an angel came and called my name

And took me by the hand.

The angel said my place was ready, in Heaven far above,

And that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love.

But when I walked through Heaven's Gates,

I felt so much at home, for God looked down,

smiled at me, and told me "Welcome Home."

So when tomorrow starts without me,

Don't think we're far apart; for every time you think of me

I'm right there in your heart.
