Obituary

Lemont Anthony Handy was born February 26, 1954, to the late Patsy E. Handy and Edward J. Mitchell, Sr. He went to eternal rest on Monday, July 11, 2022, at Tidal Health Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, MD.

Lemont will forever remain in the hearts of his sisters, Amelia Handy his caregiver, Linda Lawrence, Michelle Mason and Edwina Mitchell; brother, William Mitchell; devoted cousins Gwendolyn Hubbard, Angela Thompson, Tori Thompson, Tonya Thompson, Cesyana Jenkins and Baby George; step-mothers Dorothy Camper and Geraldine Robinson; a god sister, Karen Hayman; nephew Carlton Handy; niece Jasmine Beasley; his boys, Billy Ennis, Deveyon Turner, William Moore, Jr., and Tootie Taylor; a special friend Tenisha Ennis; and host of other relatives and friends.

Lemont, known as Jingles, Guss, Tate and Grove, was someone who never met a stranger and was one of the greatest handymen around the town. He would assist anyone who asked for his help.

His life is summed up in his own words he penned on August 10, 1974:

"We were all put on this earth to be humans, but no one was made to be the same. As anyone else, I'm not better than you, and you are not better than I. I wish that everyman was my brother, hand in hand. I will never understand why we have to be the way we are now. If everyone that read this would sit back and think about how nice the world would be if everyone would treat each other as brother. The world may even be worth living in."
