With heartfelt sadness, we say goodbye to Marion Christine Carter, of Delmar, Delaware, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. She left us on April 17, 2026, at the age of 91, leaving a void in the lives of so many loved ones.
Marion Christine Goodman Ayers Carter, daughter of the late Mary (Vergie) Savage Goodman and George L Goodman, and adopted daughter of the late John William Ayers, was born January 20, 1935, in Gates County, North Carolina. She gained her wings on April 17, 2026, for her heavenly home. She was the youngest of nine children.
Marion grew up in St Michaels, Maryland and graduated from Moton High School in Easton, Maryland. She received her religious training at an early age from Union Methodist Church in St Michaels.
Marion was joined in Holy Matrimony to Charles E Carter on May 5, 1956. They traveled abroad for many years until his retirement from the military. They settled in Baltimore, Maryland in 1968, and joined Metropolitan United Methodist Church where they were lifetime members. She was a member of the NAACP, a life member of the Eastern Star, Queen Sheba #3, and Queen Esther Assembly #1 Order of the Golden Circle.
Marion attended Community College of Baltimore and received a degree in Food Service Management. She had been employed at Blue Point Healthcare Center, 2525 West Belvedere, Baltimore, MD until her retirement in 1997.
Marion loved shopping, traveling, and watching her westerns and scary movies on television. She was a Baltimore sports fan. She loved the Orioles and the Ravens.
Marion was a devoted and loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was a very good friend to many. Her pleasing smile and likeable personality will be remembered by her many friends. Wherever she went people would always be drawn to her. Her love for her family and friends was enormous. Marion will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Marion was preceded in death by brothers: George Jr. and Clifton Goodman; 4 sisters: Helen Goodman Bryant, Elizabeth Goodman Hoggard, Roberta Goodman McCrea, and Lucille Goodman Evans.
Marion leaves to cherish precious memories with her son, James Carter of Baltimore; a brother, William Goodman of Suffolk, Virginia; 2 sisters-in-law: Clara Franks and Carol Wilson (Melvin) of Suddlersville, Maryland; 2 granddaughters: Jaimie Christine Carter and Marian Aiyanna Carter, both of Baltimore; 3 great grandsons: Gabriel Carter, Z’Axton Carter, and Lennox Cooke, all of Baltimore; a great granddaughter, Abigail Carter of Baltimore; a longtime close friend, Barbara Jean Smith Gregg of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
