Moaney
June 3, 1932 – January 5, 2025
In the early morning hours on the Sunday, January 5, 2025, Tissier C. Moaney of Easton, Maryland peacefully took her final flight to her Father's Everlasting Arms at the Talbot Hospice Foundation.
Tissier Wilson Cooper Moaney was born at Wye House Farm, Easton on June 3, 1932, to the late Sara Elizabeth Cooper (née Wilson) and the late George Henry Cooper in Easton. She was educated in Baltimore City and Talbot County School Systems. During her years in Baltimore, she was scholastically and musically gifted and was selected to receive a grant for piano lessons at the Peabody Conservatory of Music. She graduated from the Robert Russa Moton High School in Easton, Maryland and matriculated for two years at Maryland Teachers College at Bowie before starting a family.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Richard Allen Moaney, Sr and enjoyed life together with their four children. They enjoyed singing together and were devoted to their family life. Tish, Ms. Tish or Aunt Tee, as she was affectionately known to so many, enjoyed get-togethers as the youngest of eight children. She enjoyed playing cards with them, along with family trips.
Her love of children was prevalent in her domestic occupation working for several area families, including Dr. Harry and Mrs. Walsh, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Pinkard, where she helped rear children. Her work with children also included caring for children at Kiddie College in Easton.
In her devout service to the Lord and member of the Deshields United Methodist Church, she began her music leadership as a pianist and ministry of music at the age of fourteen and went on to serve as a music leader for St. Matthew United Methodist and lastly Waters United Methodist churches. She also lent her talents to several gospel music groups, including the Royal Harmonizers, Deshields Gospel Singers, Women in White, and the Jackson Jubilee Singers. Tish enjoyed her relationship.
and musical exchanges with her church family at The Church of the Holy Trinity in Oxford, Maryland. She was also Founding Maryland family member at the Waters Edge Museum.
She received high honors during her life for sharing her talents and service to the community. They include the Yolanda Pupo-Ortiz Award from at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Symposium, the Service Award from the Talbot County NAACP, a Proclamation of the Commissioners of Oxford, a Governor's Citation from the State of Maryland, and a letter of recognition for civic service from President Barack Obama.
Grieving, but rejoicing in the privilege of her love are: her daughter, Brenda Moaney Henry (James) of Easton, Richard Moaney, Jr. (Shielgretta) of Greensboro, NC; her grandchildren: Jeffrey Moaney, Demetric Moaney, Sr., Montrese Moaney, Garnell Henry, Jr. Dontae Henry, Tissier A. Moaney, Kendall Wilkerson, Shamicka Bailey, Jermel Bailey, Keith Wilson, Jr., Rikki Gross, Ka'sheem Moaney, Olivia Moaney, Brandon Potter, and Roshanda Wilson; devoted great-grandchild, Demetric, Jr.; in addition to, nineteen other great-grandchildren; great-great daughters: Alayah Moaney and Aspen Ringgold; adopted daughter, Deborah Reed (Tony); godson, Wayne Cooper; goddaughter, Tonya Skinner; adopted children, the Walsh children, and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
