Trina Lenee
Ewell
Feb 6, 1971 — Sep 13, 2026
Ridgely, Maryland
Trina Lenee Jones Ewell, affectionately known as “Sis,” “Aunt Trina,” and “Auntie,” was born on February 6, 1971, in Easton, Maryland. She was the beloved firstborn daughter of Arthur Lee Jones Jr. and Mary Jones. Trina was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, Godmother, niece, cousin, partner and friend.
Trina was educated in the Queen Annes County Public School System and graduated in 1989. Throughout her working years, Trina held several positions that reflected both her strong work ethic and her heart for serving others. She worked at establishments such as Hardees, McDonalds, VF Factory Outlet, and ConAgra. Her caring spirit led her to work as a caregiver with Apex Nursing Services, Inc. She later worked as a Food Service Worker for Caroline County Public Schools.
Her work in the school cafeteria became another opportunity for Trina to demonstrate her love for children. She took pride in ensuring that students received healthy meals and were cared for. If a child needed a meal and did not have the money to pay for it, Trina was known to reach into her own pocket to make sure that child was fed. For Trina, caring for children extended far beyond the responsibilities of her job, it was simply part of who she was.
Trina loved singing, dancing, shopping, caring for others, and spending time with family and friends. Above all, she loved worshipping and serving God. A faithful, active, and lifetime member of Robinson A.M.E. Church, Grasonville, Trina devoted herself to the work of the Lord and her church family. Throughout the years, she humbly served wherever and whenever she was needed. Her service included Youth Choir Director, Church School and Vacation Bible School teacher, Gospel choir member, choir president, Steward Board member, Lay Organization member, and Missionary Society president and member.
And then there was her voice. Trina was blessed with a beautiful, melodious voice, but those who heard her sing knew there was something deeper behind it. When Trina sang “Jesus Will Work It Out,” she sang under the anointing, with passion and fervor that could be felt throughout the room. It was more than a song to her. It was her testimony.
She faced many challenges, but her faith and her praise never wavered. Trina was a breast cancer survivor, an open-heart surgery survivor, and she persevered through kidney disease and other health challenges. Yet through it all, she continued to worship. She continued to sing. She continued to praise. She continued to believe.
Trina leaves her love, her legacy of faith, and countless precious memories to be cherished by her beloved mother, Mary Speller Jones; her cherished children: Nyshon Hadrick, Nyasia Ewell, and Navon Ewell; her bonus daughters: Tnesia Ewell and Knesia Ewell; her darling grandchildren: Micah and Amari Jenkins, Ameerah Agbaoku, and Jude Offer; devoted partner, Milton Hadrick and her blended-family coparent, Shirley Blackston.
She also leaves to cherish her memory her beloved sisters: Dawn Phillips (Daron “Bam”) and Jasima Jones; her beloved brother, Jermell Jones; her adopted brothers: Paul (Cecily) Newton and Travis Speller; her loving nieces and nephews: Desirea and Monae Carroll, Daejour Phillips, Amani Speller, Daliyah Amoroso, Daron “Drue” Phillips, Jamion Jones, Amarion and Camrion Thomas, Izaeiah Amoroso, Khalil Jones, and Khalil Speller; her bonus nieces and nephews, including the beloved “Burkes”: Rashaund, Atrea, Liam, Hailey, Darius and Eva; her godchildren: Nashambia Fitchett, Quante’ Braxton, Ny’Kyla Hawkins, Kierra Carter, Sierra Boyer, Travon Butler, and Travon Speller; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, church family members, and dear friends.
Trina was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Lee Jones Jr.; her paternal grandparents, Arthur and Coretta Jones, Sr.; her maternal grandparents, Johnnie and Margaret Speller; her beloved baby brother, Arthur Lee Jones, III; and many other loved ones.
Trina was an overcomer and a walking miracle. Her legacy cannot be measured simply by the years she lived. It lives in the children she fed when no one was watching. It lives in the people she encouraged without judgment. It lives in every child she claimed and loved as her own. It lives in the church she faithfully served. It lives in the family she loved fiercely. It lives in the songs she sang and in the faith, she demonstrated when life gave her every reason to stop praising.
