Vaughn Darrell Handy peacefully departed this life on August 2, 2024, at the age of 68, after a lengthy illness. Vaughn was born on July 8, 1956, to Shirley E. Handy (Cherry) and Marion Collins.

Vaughn received his early education at Salisbury Elementary School, then to Hebron Elementary, graduating in 1974 from Mardela High School. After high school, Vaughn enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After military training, he became an Aircraft Mechanic. During his years of service, Vaughn was stationed in Arizona, Japan, California, Hawaii, and Iraq. After his tours of duty, Vaughn retired 20 years of service as an SSgt (Staff Sergeant). Then Vaughn lived in Hawaii for twenty years. Finally, Vaughn decided it was time to come back home. Vaughn enjoyed going to car shows, drag racing, motorcycles, Westerns, and music.

Vaughn leaves to cherish his loving memory, twin brothers: Leo and Preston Cherry, Salisbury, MD; sisters: Lydia Cartwright, New Castle, DE and Arnita Collins, Salisbury, MD; uncles: Charles (Doris) Handy, Salisbury, MD and Robert (Evelyn) Handy, Delmar, DE; an aunt, Wanda (Sherwood) Pinder, Hurlock, MD, and a host of cousins, family, and friends.
