IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Vinette Lynn
(Nettie) Carnegie
January 24, 1962 – July 19, 2022
Vinette, affectionately called "Nettie" by family and friends, was born in Salisbury, Maryland on January 24, 1962 to the late Samuel J. and Edna L. Carnegie. Nettie was the youngest of 11 children and raised on the family farm in rural Hebron, Maryland. Nettie developed her work ethic at a very young age. She and her siblings contributed to sustaining the family farm by harvesting fruits and vegetables, as well as caring for cows, chickens, goats and pigs before heading off to school each morning. Nettie accepted Christ at an early age and believed in the power of prayer. She and her family were faithful members of Mount Enoch Holiness Church throughout her childhood. Nettie received her formative education at Hebron Elementary and Intermediate School. She attended Mardela High School, class of 1980. After graduating High School, Nettie decided to attended The University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland majoring in Computer Science. In 1981, she enrolled in the Montgomery College medical assistant program. In addition to school, Nettie worked as a Radiology Front Desk Coordinator and Transcriptionist at Leland Memorial Hospital in Riverdale, Maryland. Throughout her career, Nettie found her niche in medical transcription and quality assurance. Her most current position was with Radnet Solutions where she held the position as Clinical Research Analyst. When not working, Nettie loved to travel. Her travels took her to many beautiful destinations and gave her an opportunity to see the world. Nettie was an avid cruiser taking approximately 30 cruises throughout the Caribbean. Her love for cruising earned her Platinum Status on Carnival Cruise Line and Diamond Status on Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. Nettie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Although she never had children, she loved and adored her two cockatiel birds (Tiki and Melody), was extremely close with her nieces and nephews, and cherished her goddaughter Britney. Nettie was a kind and tenderhearted person who always had a smile on her face and an infectious laugh. She had a heart of gold and knew how to bring people together. She had a strong sense of community and was never afraid to try new things. Her love for art, photography, birds, dragonflies, Caribbean culture and "all things purple" will be etched in the hearts of her loved ones forever. Vinette Lynn Carnegie passed on July 19, 2022 at age 60. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas Carnegie and Wallace Carnegie, and her sisters, Carolyn Carnegie and Bernice Pridgen. She is survived by her brothers, Samuel Carnegie (Thelma), Reginald Carnegie (Enna), Marty Carnegie (Barbara); sisters, Sandra Whittaker, June Carnegie (George Martin), Cheryl Johnson; Goddaughter, Britney Greenwood; Aunts and Uncles, and host of cousins, nephews nieces and great nephews and nieces. Above all things mentioned, Nettie was a woman of strong faith and believed that "with God all things are possible." At the time of her passing, she was a member of Union Church, at the Beltsville Maryland Campus. The pinnacle of Nettie's life was her relationship with God and family. She will always be known as the "family lighthouse" and the joy of our hearts.
