Obituary

Yolanda Yvette Chase was born February 18, 1963, in Easton, MD.  She was the youngest of five children born to Walter E. Chase, Sr. and the late Helen Delores Wilson Chase.

Yolanda was affectionately known to many as "Lonnie" and lovingly known to her family as "Londa".  She went home to be with the Lord at the age of 61 on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at the Talbot Hospice Foundation in Easton.

Londa was educated in the Talbot County Public School system where she graduated in 1981 from Easton Senior High School in Easton.  While attending Easton Senior High, she was a member of the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) where she held various positions such as parliamentarian, vice president, and president.  She was also actively involved in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).  In addition, Londa was a member of the varsity track and field team where she earned her varsity letter" E" in the shotput events.

Growing up she was a faithful member of Waters United Methodist Church in Oxford, MD where she participated in the Methodist Youth Fellowship (M.Y.F.).  Londa sang in the youth choir and when called upon she led the Order of Church service as the Worship Leader on any given Sunday.  Her favorite scripture is Psalm 118:17 "I will not die but live and will proclaim what the Lord has done."  Her favorite songs included "I Can't Let a Day Go By" and "Come Jesus Come."

Upon graduating from high school, she attended Bowie State University in 1982 where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1987 and a Master's degree in counseling in 1992. As a result of earning her degree in counseling, Londa became a member of the American Counseling Association.

After college, she moved to Laurel, MD and became a faithful, consistent and loyal member of the Heritage Fellowship Church in Reston, Va. where Reverend Dr. Norman A. Tate served as pastor.  Under the tutelage of Reverend Tate, Yolanda rededicated her life to Christ and her faith grew stronger in the Lord.

Her work history included the following:  Lerner Corporation, full-time Security Supervisor 1998 – 1999; full-time Supervisor of the Library of Congress Security Force, 1999 – 2007 and May 2018 – Feb. 2023; Elite Protective Services from 2007 – 2018 as Full-time Supervisor of the Bureau Economic Analysis team under the Department of Homeland Security.

She traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.  Her hobbies included, but were not limited to, traveling, fishing, watching westerns, Hallmark movies and football (her favorite team is the Denver Broncos).  She enjoyed going to restaurants with her family and eating her favorite foods including lobster tails, king crab legs and Five Guys cheeseburgers.

Yolanda is survived by her father, Walter E. Chase, Sr., Chief Easton Police Department, Retired; three sisters: Janet Gaines, Shirlee Chase and Kendra Thomas; 3 brothers: Walter E. Chase, Jr. Lt. Colonel United States Air Force, Retired (Carol), Dr. Tyrone Chase (Patricia), David Chase; a special nephew, Gregory D.
