Dorothy “Dottie Ann” Yeatman passed away on March 8, 2023, at her residence. She was 74 years old. Dottie was born December 26, 1948, in Salisbury to the late James A. and Wilma Jarman Yeatman.
After graduating high school, Dottie attended and graduated from Salisbury State University with a Bachelors Degree in English/Speech and Drama. Dottie continued her educational journey again at Salisbury State University earning a Masters Degree. Finally, she received her Doctorate from Salisbury State University, which she was very proud of. Dottie Ann was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, Kappa Delta Phi, Alpha Psi Omega, and Who’s Who Among American Teachers.
Dottie Ann taught most of her career in Wicomico County schools including: Bennett Middle, Mardela High, Wicomico Senior High, Salisbury Middle, and Parkside High. Dottie Ann also taught classes at Wor Wic College in Salisbury. She was talented teaching in the areas of English, Drama, and Creative Writing. Dottie was passionate about being a teacher, and she adored her students. Dottie Ann loved to write poetry. A few of her writings were published.
Dottie Ann believed in many causes and over the years attended many marches, even to the steps of United States Capital. If she believed in a cause, she was passionate about it.
Dottie Ann is survived by many cousins, friends, and her students. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, or your local Humane Society in Dottie Ann’s name.
Dottie Ann’s burial will be private.
