Elwood Lee Carpenter, 83 of Centreville, peacefully entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 9, 2025, in Easton, Maryland at University Shore Medical Center-Easton. Elwood was known as "Abe" to most of his friends and family. He was born November 23, 1941, in Queenstown, Maryland to the late John and Helen Johnson Carpenter.
Elwood attended the public school system of Queen Annes County. He was definitely no stranger to work. In June 1984, Elwood met and married to love of his life, the "apple of his eye", Cora Tilghman. He had a great love for fishing and dancing. His dancing stemmed from the "Oldie by Goodie Music." Elwood also loved hosting family gatherings and cookouts.
In addition to his parents, Elwood was preceded in death by his sister, Anna; 2 brothers: John Hilbert and James Carpenter; and one stepdaughter, Aretha Armstrong.
Elwood leaves to cherish fond memories with 2 daughters: Mary Dennis Dorsey of Richmond, VA and Denise Dennis of Easton; a stepdaughter, Missy Rasin; 2 stepsons: Hermione and Eddie Rasin; 5 sisters: Mary Farmer of Berlin, Maryland, Marjorie Green of Cordova, MD, Dorothy Roy of Cambridge, Helen Stanford of Royal Oak, MD, Martha Carpenter of Greensboro, MD; five grandsons, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
